“Wildwood” is a good film, and it earns the 13 in its PG-13 rating.
It begins with a mechanical robot boy ripping his own heart out before jumping off of a balcony to off himself, and we have a pit stop in our main character giving her parents roofies, and we have a through line theme of A mother’s grief compelling her to sacrifice an infant.
Whilst we may not be able to put Christ back into christmas, this film is certainly putting the Anderson back into fairy tales.
Nonetheless, what used to be the dream of California apparently is now the dream of Oregon.
We have a reference to “Stand by Me”, as well as an eye rolling reference to the ending of the double feature The Best of Both Worlds ” of Star Trek TNG, as well as a subtle reference to the battering ram used in “The Return Of The King “.
The entire movie seems like animation, I would not have known it was stop motion unless I had gone and accidentally found that out after the fact.
