Disclosure Day

The film, “Disclosure Day” clocks in at 2h 25m, and I found it reasonably paced, in Spielberg fashion.

Also in Spielberg fashion was the ineptitude of government agents, at least on the ground and field level.

The first time this happened, it brought me out of the movie.

“Dude, how are these guys not seeing you run along this opened ass pole fence in the middle of this opened ass field?”

Oh I see, none of these assholes have peripheral vision. Fine, let’s say it’s because some of them are wearing tactical helmets.

But do they seriously not fucking hear you opening up and closing a car door.

Okay, and this car must be a rental because these deaf and blind motherfuckers just shot through the window. But can’t do that when trying to get you out of the driver seat.

But fine. This is Spielberg, we’ve seen Spielberg do this before. Here’s your hall pass.

Spielberg then goes into dropping in religion. At first I’m like, the fuck you doing? Are we going there like this?

It took a little while for the answer to be no, we’re not going there like this. But could you have done it without the clunk and the shoe horn? Maybe.

I had already gotten to where he was going through a different route, combining different science fiction source material and authors. And that’s okay.

For a while I was thinking that this is a Spielberg movie where he’s trying to give you a framing along with an experience to the detriment of the experience that you might expect giving previous Spielberg alien movies. You do get that sense that you are supposed to be having this experience of… Well when the disclosure comes, we’re interrupting this broadcast of world war III breaking out to bring you archive footage of aliens I’m Roswell up to current time. Tic-tacs not included, you must supply your own batteries.

When they close the loop on a line Colin Firth drops to another character, a part of me wanted to flip the Alex Jones switch and have Michael Jackson step out.

Would I recommend? It was a decent movie to escape the heat in. And going by those non FBI FBI agents, the escape is guaranteed.

But the only people I believed were the nun and Colin Firth, up until the very end. It’s just like a switch got flipped, because alien magic technology telepathy, and then his Goonies go full cheese dick and just leave.

This is about when I wanted to flip the brain rot switch and have Michael Jackson step out, just to troll everybody in this big moment of global exposure of aliens as a last second release valve of world war III.

Don’t stop till you’ve had enough, I guess.

The general message is: empathy and faith in other people are what will propel us into the next stage of evolution, and therefore the future.

The loop on this gets tied off during a telephone conversation between one of the main characters, and the nun. That’s about where I was like okay, this is where we’re going, instead of that other nonsensical way. Thanks.

But they kept going with these goddamn cardinal birds. I’m like, we get it, you’ve already tied off that religious stuff. You’ve got the deer coming in, you can stop it with these birds. Pass the buck dude.

I did enjoy this film. It was okay.

Don’t be all expecting “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” or “Jaws”.

I don’t know if this was intentional, but it was a brief moment of “Heavy Burtation” for Emily Blunt’s character, as you have seen in the trailers for this movie. Cause for concern is… Aliens and their magical telepathy technology instead of an on-air migraine.
