The film, “Backrooms” was actually pretty decent.
Based on the creepypasta story series, this movie roots itself in themes of being stuck, as in being moribund. You are given a glimpse of the sharp blurry edge between acceptance and choosing to change, and what making the wrong choice will get you.
I counted 2 jump scares, almost back to back. They did not feel cheap.
There were interesting camera angles, and geometry reminiscent of Escher.
There was a period of time in this movie where I was reminded of how Tegan Jovanka May have felt upon her first stumbling into and through the TARDIS, unaccompanied and by accident.
There were more people in the theater with me than I expected, including a group of fans of the Backrooms source material.
I may have been at, or just slightly above average age of the attending audience.
An overall enjoyable experience.
