So last night I was able to attend a collective Soul concert at The Mountain Winery. I had technically seen collective Soul live once before, back roughly 2009, around Mother’s Day Weekend. I know this because they brought their mother out on stage to say “hello”. However, because it was a radio station concert, there was a crowd and no seating allotted, and I was way in back. Still worth it.
This concert I attended last night is part of collective souls current tour. I’ve been wanting to see them live on tour for a long while, and waiting for the next time around wasn’t really an option. The venue is really beautiful, and I had a great time. I am still surprised that I was able to score the ticket that I did. This
entire adventure was also a real world field test, because there was a decent amount of walking, with hills and stairs, in an unfamiliar location. Amongst crowds. With spotty cell phone reception. By myself. Nothing really went wrong, that wouldn’t have happened anyways to an average normal person in crowds in an unfamiliar location, whilst by themselves. I’m calling this a resounding success. My vision and my energy levels have clearly improved, as I was not laid out flat by the end of the evening, and I was not what you might expect from a background character in a mad Max movie. As promised in an earlier post, here is a playlist of some short videos taken from my seat during the concert. Unedited, so you would see what I Saw from my vantage point. One video wasn’t captured, and therefore isn’t here, that’s okay.
Ed Roland had both of his sons come out on stage. Brother Dean Roland was of course also on stage as part of the band. 33 years these guys have been going. I’ve been a fan the whole stretch. Ed Rolandstill keeps his hair long, and it’s full gray glory. Although now with a signature white hat.
Here are some pictures from the concert. Also a picture of the view from the concert venue.
The opening band is called “The Click Five”
